I love working on customers’ databases because so often critical business functions depend on them. In my experience when the database is running well, my customers are happy!

SQL SERVER TECHNICAL CONSULTANT
What are you an expert at?
I am proficient in SQL Server. Day-to-day support is my bread and butter. Receiving alerts or tickets that could be about anything, and then getting logged on to the customer site to investigate.
What do you love about your job
Sometimes the simple ones are the best. A customer reports that they’re unable to do a certain thing or it’s not working as expected, and the fix is just to add a permission on a login or tweak something that is already there. The customer was under pressure and a simple fix has made their world seem brighter again.
What is your favourite thing about working for Xynomix?
The team. The atmosphere from top to bottom is relaxed and welcoming. It makes it much easier to do a good job when you get on with everyone. It’s the thing I have missed with working from home. There’s something I really enjoy about being able to chat with anyone and everyone whilst making a brew.
When I’m not at work, you’ll find me…
Either in the gym, down the pub, at a race course, or at a gig. However, as a new parent, this has somewhat changed!

I used to take salsa dancing classes (trying to impress a girl, obviously). They used to call me ‘Snake Hips Thomson’ I was that good … or maybe not!

What are you an expert at?
I’m more of an IT all-rounder… I have written commercial software packages, built networks and company infrastructures, beta tested Unix operating systems, run training programmes, managed support and consultancy departments and I’ve also been the tea boy!
What do you love about your job?
I love problem solving. I believe that, in IT, there’s never a problem that is insurmountable.

The “Family” team and the people that we have working for us.

Going to gigs and festivals, travelling to cold climates, aurora hunting, dabbling in photography, feeding (noisy) wild hedgehogs in the garden, collecting music-related items (t-shirts, posters, vinyl), supporting the Nottingham Panthers, and going to tennis grand slams.

I was once in the Guinness Book of World Records as part of the ‘largest parade of a single type of vehicle’ – I drove my prized Mini around Silverstone race track on the Mini’s 30th Birthday Anniversary.

Understanding a customer’s issue and guiding them through to the best solution. I have a great deal of experience in speaking up and selling ODAs, as well as assisting customers with their Oracle license configuration!
What do you love about your job?
The internal culture of Xynomix. Everyone is really happy to help and assist with moving things forward.
I also work with some amazing partners who play a vital role in growing Xynomix.

The people, culture and the energy that people have in the business. I also liked being able to visit clients (before COVID), which is something I look forward to doing again soon.

Communication which is imperative in a client service role. This helps the day-to-day running of our job remain smooth, and the transition from different stages efficient and effective.

Being outdoors!! I love hiking in the peaks, being a complete petrol head enjoying the thrill of fast cars and soon to be motorbikes (once i pass my test). Spending time with my loved ones including Dexter the Doberman (my dog). I also like to help non-profit animal charities where I can.

What are you an expert at?
I’m an expert in making sure what was sold is delivered. That can be anything from guiding a project through from start to finish, to ensuring customers are receiving the service that they are paying for, or making sure that our consultants have the support they need in the event of a critical issue.
I also manage our CRM, designing and implementing the internal processes that keep the work flowing.
What do you love about your job?
I love the variety I get with the job, 1 minute trying to design a new process to improve efficiency and the next making sure a project is on track and being delivered

I used to be able to say playing rugby, but a knee injury (and a small child) has put an end to that, but I still enjoy watching when I get the chance. I love walking and get into the hills when I can.
